This year’s theme is “Permission to be seen“. In Finland and around the world, certain societal structures and attitudes that keep queer folk and other minorities silent are still prevalent. Sexual and gender minorities have always faced prejudice and discrimination, and we must not allow prejudiced attitudes to become commonplace. We are a valuable part of society and we are allowed to be seen and heard – just as we are.
PATRON OF THE EVENT
RAIJA FORSMAN
This year, the patron of Lahti Pride is Raija Forsman, CEO of Visit Lahti. She says: “The event is organised by volunteers, in cooperation with local companies and associations. Lahti Pride is a vital part of the local queer culture in the Päijät-Häme region.
Tolerance, equality and taking into account different target audiences are an integral part of tourism and our operations in the Lahti region.”
Thank you for being our patron! See you at Pride!
AN EVENTFUL WEEK
During Pride week you can take part in a myriad of events from lectures and workshops to cultural events and parties. The highlight of the week is the Pride march and party on Saturday. The programme will be announced later this spring!
PRINCIPLES OF A SAFER SPACE
We all have a right to feel safe, be heard and be included. This is only possible when all participants adhere to the principles of a safer space and take care of one another.
